An interdisciplinary ocean lesson where students make predictions, observe a chemical reaction, and communicate their findings through writing, discussion, and art. Students explore cause-and-effect while creating bubble-wrap pufferfish and other sea creatures.

Pete the Cat’s Supercool Science Fair

An inquiry-based science project where students build and test volcanoes, make predictions, record observations, and communicate their findings through presentation boards and class presentations.

Superhero Week: Identity, Bravery & Empowerment

A multi-day thematic unit where students explore identity, bravery, teamwork, and problem-solving through literature, writing, art, and dramatic play, culminating in a culturally responsive study of Lucía the Luchadora.

Even & Odd Detectives

3rd Grade • Math • Number Patterns • Mathematical Reasoning

Students investigate patterns in even and odd numbers through hands-on modeling, partner problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. Using a detective-themed case log, students test addition and subtraction combinations, record evidence, identify patterns, and develop rules to explain their findings.

Context Clue Detectives

3rd Grade • ELAR • Vocabulary • Context Clues

Students use context clues to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words while working through a detective-themed mystery. Through guided, partner, and independent practice, students identify five types of context clues, cite textual evidence, and apply their understanding to solve each case.
